Primero el Sport Evolution:
This is some pictures of one of my favourite vintage BMW's, a BMW M3 E30 Sport Evolution. This car is rare, and is produced in only 600 units between December 1989 and March 1990. The car is based on the M3 chassis of the legendary E30 M3. The engine is a 2.5 litre four cylinder with 238 Hp. The performance from 0-100 is approx. 6.5s. M3 Sport Evolution /Source: BMW Car Club Norway (http://www.bmwccn.no/)/ The first generation M3, the E30 M3, was officially shown on the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1985. The serial production started one year later, in September 1986 and continued until Jun 1991. The E30 M3 was produced in 12 different variants of the sedan and the cabriolet. Totally 17 970 cars were produced. The M3 Sport Evolution though, was only produced between December 1989 and March 1990 in only 600 units. The Sport Evolution is sometime referred to as the Evo III.
Engine/Gearbox
S14 B25 M-Power, four-cylinder engine. 2.467 litre, 238 hp @7000 rpm, 240 Nm @4750 rpm, compression ratio 10.2:1. The cover for the spark plugs is colured red. The gear box is a 5 speed unit (dogleg) with the ratios I:3.72, II:2.40, III:1,77, IV:1.26, V:1.0 and R:4.23 to 1. To secure traction a 25% differential slip was equipped.
Suspension/Brakes/Wheels
MacPherson, springs and Boge gas dampers both front and rear. The front is lowered 10mm compared to a standard M3. The stopping power is secured by servo assisted 284mm ventilated disc at the front and 250mm discs at the rear. ABS system as standard. The wheels are BBS 7.5x16 alloy wheels with 225/45 ZR16 tires.
Interior/Exterior
Standard E30, except MTech steering wheel, gear changer and hand break with neubuck leather, gear changer with light. The seats are Motorsport seats with striped anthracite clothes or leather. On the outside, the car has a different front spoiler than the standard M3, and the rear spoiler is adjustable in 3 steps. The bumper has stripes with contrasting colour. The colour of the car was only Jet Black or Brilliant Red.
Performance
BMW claim that the car sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 6.5s. The weight is 1360 kg compared with the standard M3 on 1200 kg.

The Alpina B6 3.5S [Sources : /The Unofficial Alpina Web Site (http://www.users.wineasy.se/aahl/default.htm)/, /Alpina Germany (http://www.alpina.de/english/automobiles/index_e.htm)/]Many consider the first-generation BMW M3 to be the best drivers car ever built by BMW. But the M3 was built far more for competition and serious road use than for everyday transportation with it´s raw four-cylinder engine, which is not nearly as smooth as a straight six. The M3-based Alpina B6 3.5S, which is considered to be one of Alpina´s finest efforts ever, had the best of both worlds with the performance of the powerful and smooth 3.5 litre six-cylinder engine mixed with the handling capabilities of the M3. Unfortunately only 62 cars were produced between August 1986 and December 1990.
Engine/GearboxAlpina use their own version of BMW´s big 3.5 litre six in the small 3-series body. This makes the car 125kg heavier then the A/C equipped standard M3. Alpina has modified the cylinder head, the combustion chambers, fitted lighter, higher-compression Mahle pistons, a new camshaft and a new exhaust system to make the engine produce 254 hp @5900 rpm and 320 Nm @4000 rpm. A Getrag 5-speed unit with a “sportgetriebe” replaces the standard gearbox with the first gear down to the left; also called a dogleg gearbox.
Suspension/Brakes/Wheels
The B6S share the chassis with the standard M3, which is considered to have probably the best chassis ever built by BMW. The only difference is that the B6S is equipped with the front springs from the A/C-equipped M3´s. Those are a little bit stiffer to handle the extra-weight. The brakes are standard M3 brakes. The trademark Alpina-wheels are 20-spoke 16"x8" both at front and rear with 225/45 tires; 17" as an option.
Interior/Exterior
The seats have been replaced with Recaro items with blue and green stripes. The steering wheel is leather-covered. The speedo has been replaced and there are new digital-instruments. The exterior changes include a new front spoiler, rear spoiler, the wheels and the optional Alpina stripes.
Performance
Alpina claimed a 0-100 km/h time of 6,6 seconds (the same time as the E30 B6 3.5). But according to Sports Car International's test of the B6 3.5S it could accelerate from 0-100 km/h in only 6 seconds, 0-160 km/h in 14.6 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 26.2 and had a top speed of 253 km/h. That is 5 km/h faster than BMW's ultimate M3, the M3 Sport Evolution.
